I love food, and I love to try new foods, and I enjoy illustrating food more than anything. I feel like it gives me a rare opportunity to really get in there and render. As I am on a quest to market myself better, i will be sending postcards soon, well hopefully within the next 3 months.
Maybe I can use food illustration as my first promo piece. What do you all think?

I think it looks great. If food is what you really feel you enjoy illustrating the most, then go for it. A lot of artist have their special or favorite subjects. I like more dramatic stories, some artist love cars or products and landscape.
ReplyDeleteIf you focus on food illustrations, then more clients will contact you for that subject, which in the end would only make you even better at illustrating and producing faster.

Interesting thoughts! Your food comps look very tasty, Kristen - I say go for it if that's what you enjoy drawing the most. Also consider what clients in your area are looking for most often, if that's an issue. Are there a lot of food industry account being handled in the Chicago are? I would think so...
