48hrs

These pictures had to be made within 72hrs ( I should have told the agency that they are crazy and so on but I didn´t. I´m buyable. ) So I started to search the net for backgrounds. I found some good, some bad and started rearranging them in photoshop. Then I printed the whole stuff, drew some lines across in order to make it look more like coloured illustrations and less like stock photos. Finally I scanned them again and drew the persons carefully to match the backgrounds as good as possible. uff. I´m proud of the result . I think that is a big issue for every layout and storyboard artists: nobody can judge our work fairly without knowing the work conditions like time pressure.

  1. I think you did a great job! You've blended the backdrops beautifully with the figures. As they say (or they should) everything is fair in love and storyboarding ;)

  2. I agree with Maria, it is a great result.
I have to say though, I just wish I had your patience when it came to researching those splendid backgrounds.

  3. Great fusion of background and figures. I agree with Maria, but I'd say everything is fair when the result is as good as this.

  4. Wow. Impressive.
But isn't it easier and more time saving to alter the backgrounds in Photoshop? Instead of printing and scanning.

  6. Thanks so much for posting, Kai, the process of printing and scanning actually gives a hand-made feeling to fit with the illustration. Next time,
I'll try, I think it will be very useful.
