How about a little courtesy?

I stared Storyboard Central because I wanted to reach out to the community of my fellow storyboard artists. Aside from the obvious purpose of this blog - posting words and pictures by myself and contributors that would (hopefully) inform, entertain and inspire visitors - one of the courtesies I wanted to extend to the community was my Artist Link List (located in the sidebar at the bottom left of this page).

Generally speaking, most people have been great about sending a friendly note along with their request to be added to the list. But every once in a while I get an email like the one I received yesterday. The subject line read something like "Add my link" and contained nothing more than a URL.

Look, it takes maybe 5 minutes of my time to add an artist's name and website address to this blog's list. As I said, its a courtesy I extend to my fellow artists - I'm not a machine and I don't have any obligation to add you. If you can't take one minute to write a short, friendly note requesting to be added to the list, what makes you think I would feel like wasting 5 minutes of my busy day on you?

Show a little courtesy and you'll be welcomed here. Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. I shouldn't have to write about this... good 'netiquette' should be a given.

  1. Amen. Leif does this out of the goodness of his heart, kids, for YOUR benefit. Please and thank you is common courtesy.

  2. 'Good onyer' for speaking up Leif.
You have done a grand job drawing (excuse pun) our international community of story board artists together and as such you deserve courtesy.
No response to your criticism, leads me to believe you have given us all the chance to consider our behaviour as we all may have been guilty at some time of taking someone elses endeavors for granted. I am sure whoever it was had a 'senior moment' and regrets the slip-up in 'netiquette'.
Keep up the good work Leif and as soon as I have something worthy enough to go along side the other fantastic contributors, I will be sure to get in touch....with good manners!

  3. Post my stuff bitch!!!!!!!

You know I love ya Leif!! handsome devil
    Love from Palookaville

  4. See what I mean? No respect, I tell ya. Yeesh! ;^)

  5. I've been a storyboard artist for many years and am now just discovering this site. It is truly a beautiful thing to see some people I know still out there doing it and finding some new artists that are just as dedicated. I can't thank you enough and I will be as polite as a southern gentleman can be to ask that I be entered onto the list!
