Reality Check: The Black Eyed Peas' Instant Def

This is part of a series of posts where I will post my storyboards along with a link to the finished commercial so you can compare the boards with the final product.


INSTANT DEF
This series of short films by the musical group Black-Eyed Peas starred the Peas in superhero alter egos. Initially very visually ambitious, it was to be shot in black and white with splashes of color (a la Sin City) with lots of CG visuals, but the end product was scaled back a bit. The director was Jesse Dylan (yes, the son of that Dylan).

  2. Love the execution of these drawings, Anson! There's a bit of an Alex Toth-ian quality to them (tho' very modern, of course) ... but reminiscent of his later "Black Hood" stuff, I think. Nice. Thanks for sharing these with us :^)
