I had a client a few weeks ago that had countless rounds of revisions, then at least 2 rounds after the coloring was finished. I don't understand, if you see something you don't like, then why can't you change it round 2 instead of round 5. Anyway, I actually feel kinda bad complaining because i got PIZZAID for this job. I've never gotten paid this well for a storyboard job, so it was worth the headache and no sleep. Here are some of the frames from that job.
Sounds like it was approval by committee, Kristen.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard, as a freelancer to know what's going on behind the scenes at an agency, but having worked in-house for a number of years back in the '80's & '90's I know that jobs can sometimes take on a life of their own and changes to a concept can have little or nothing to do with the illustrator. Quite often there are so many people sticking their finger into the pie (especially if you include the client side too) that you need a program to keep track of the players. I laugh when I see the credits for awards listing only 2 or maybe 3 people.
Nice drawings BTW. :)
I feel you man, sometimes you can't help to scratch your head about some of the changes the client make after the gig is "done", most clients "think" it is so easy to make a "tiny" correction here and there, at least you got well paid for the job, btw GOOD JOB W/ THOSE FRAMES!!!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Mexico!!!
I hear ya-- I've tried to implement setups that try to accomodate late revisions when i can. Mostly just keeping things on separate layers... It can still get perty tedious though~
ReplyDeleteNice foreground/background sepration on the boards!
Kristen; I bet you made a LOT of storyboard artists smile in sympathy today! We've ALL been there a million times ;^) - Good for you for sharing a bitchfest with us. Hopefully some others will as well. Your drawings get better and better btw.
ReplyDeletebesides the "bitchfest" that are some really good looking frames there!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the encouragement and kinds words!
